Excess Use of Mobile Can Consume 10 Years of Your Life | HTRI

A study by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) suggests that excess usage of mobile phones and other communication devices is causing excessive stress and frustration among people.

The adverse effect of Excess Mobile Phone Usage

In today's fast-moving market, mobile phones have become an integral part of our daily lives.

In fact, smartphones with their multiple connectivity options and unlimited access to the information, have drastically reshaped the way we live in thousands of different ways.

However, while smartphones and cell phones make our life so much easier, there is no denying that machines do bring some harm, not only good.

A study by the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) suggests that excess usage of mobile phones and other communication devices is causing excessive stress and frustration among people.

So, if you’re someone who loves to run day and night in games like temple run and spend plenty of time to capture the #1/100 spot to earn a Chicken Dinner in PUBG MOBILE, then there are high chances that your life expectancy may be depreciated by at least 10 years.

New research found that spending so much time staring at our mobile phones is actually doing some significant damage to our physical, social, mental, and intellectual lives. Still, don't believe that tech addiction is real?

Well, let’s have a quick glance at the major negative effects caused by the excessive use of mobile phones:

Electromagnetic Radiations

With the advent of advanced technology, the growing use of smartphones and other communication gadgets are considerably causing many harmful and disturbing effects on human health.

According to a study by WHO (World Health Organization), mobile phone radiation has been classified as a "possible human carcinogen” which poses an increased risk of brain cancer from heavy, long-term use.

These harmful radiations also penetrate in the body which can induce many poisonous diseases such as brain tumor, ear hearing impairment, and male infertility, the effect on the fetus, Alzheimer's, asthma, heart nuisance, insomnia, high blood pressure, leukemia, immune system, and rheumatoid arthritis.

Stress

In a recent study conducted by Professor (Dr) Manoj Sharma for Healthy Use of Technology (SHUT) Clinic, he said that the excessive usage of mobile devices is inducing undue stress and frustration among the young generations.

He explained in his presentation on “Cyber addition & management”, the zero-inbox syndrome, where person has the tendency to check on each and every notification received, Phantom” vibration syndrome (hallucination of mobile vibrating), and NoMophobia (fear of no mobile device) were causing stress and adverse effect on human health.

“This in the longer run has the capacity of taking away at least 10 years of our productive life,” he adds.

Lack of Eye Vision

The obsessive use of mobile phones is becoming a distraction for students, leading teenagers to a social media addiction which is drastically reducing the amount of long-distance eyesight.

According to a study, excessive blue light exposure (through digital devices like smartphones, tablets, and computers) can disturb the wake and sleep cycle and damage the light-sensitive cells in the retina.

If you find yourself spending far too much time looking at your smartphone, not all hope is lost, and you can make a change right now.

Well, hopefully, this list was enough to prompt you to give your phone a break for a bit, and maybe look at the individual sitting next to you for some amusements at least that won't cause you brain tumor anytime soon!
