Cert-In: Update Google Chrome Immediately to keep Hackers at Bay

Cert-In has warned about the hackers taking advantage of outdated chrome browser. It has been advised to the users to update their chrome browser in order to keep their computer safe from any kind of hacker attack.

The agency has warned the users about the possible attack by hackers and their malicious intentions! The hackers intend to gain access control and the safety of their computer systems may go for a toss! 

Hence the Agency has urged the users to update their Google Chrome browsers immediately! CERT-In, the Cybersecurity Agency has given a warning to the users of the Google Chrome browser about the possible hacking of their computers.

The agency has told the users to update Google Chrome browsers immediately to restrict the hackers from gaining access control of their systems and to ensure the security of their systems.

As per the detailed report by IANS, The Chrome version 84.0.4147.89 is armed with 38 fixes and the advanced enhancement against the vulnerable attacks that can be carried out by the hackers with malicious intentions!

The Computer Emergency Response Team-India (CERT-In) has given a warning as per the new advisory, “The Google Chrome is vulnerable to numerous risks that may allow the hackers sitting at a remote location to gain access to confidential & sensitive information, pass through the security restrictions, carry out the arbitrary codes, Contact the spoof & DOS (Denial of Service) attacks on the targeted computers.

The external security researchers were able to find these new vulnerable factors in Google Chrome through an eagle’s eye! As per the research professionals, these risk issues have surfaced due to the numerous reasons like the error in security & user interface, inadequate enforcement of the policies, pass through policy, heap buffer overflow, use post free, type confusion, information leakage from side channel, non-suitable implementation in WebRTC, etc.

The CERT-In Advisory said “the attackers sitting at the remote locations have the ability to craft & design a special webpage on the target computer and then take the undue advantage of these vulnerable factors! As per the claims by this advisory, the solution in the current times is to go for the upgraded version of Chrome (84.0.4147.89).


In recent times, a newly found spyware effort carried out an attack on the users with the help of the humongous amount of downloads (32Million!!)Of the Google Chrome web browser’s extension.

As per the report by Reuters, research professionals at Awake security highlighted the fact that the tech industry, in general, failed to provide security to the browsers. The reason for the same is that these browsers are majorly used for sensitive functions that have confidential information like payroll, email, etc.

Alphabet’s Inc. Google issued a statement stating that after they received an alert by the researchers last month, they weeded out a little more than 70 add-ons with malicious intentions from the official web store of Google Chrome.
