Marcus Hutchins is accused of creating and updating Kronos, a well-known banking trojan that uses a technique called web injects to insert fake login pages for online banking portals on various browsers.

The arrest was broadcast by Motherboard which happened on August 2 2017, after the DEFCON security conference. Marcus Hutchins who was at a hacking conference in Las Vegas when he was arrested form Las Vegas airport. He is also known as a creator The Kronos malware, which is distributed through email attachments, the main aim of his malware is to steal banking and credit card passwords from infested computers. As per the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, the malware was designed and configured to fetch the login credentials from banking systems in Canada, Germany, Poland, France, the UK, and other countries.
