Crysis ransomware – How To Remove Cobra Crysis Ransomware

Crysis ransomware hits again with its new variant, cobra ransomware. As noted by ID-Ransomware's Michael Gillespie it had all the earmarks of being a new version of the Crysis/Dharma Ransomware.

What is Cobra Crysis Ransomware?

This week, ID-Ransomware's Michael Gillespie saw what had all the earmarks of being a new version of the Crysis/Dharma Ransomware uploaded to their ID-Ransomware's website. Jakub Kroustek (Avast Threat Intel lead), at that point, found a sample to affirm that it was without a doubt another Crysis variation. This new form will annex the .cobra extension to encoded records. It isn't known precisely how this variation is being moved, however, in the past Crysis was commonly spread by hacking into Remote Desktop Services and installing the ransomware manually.

Once after Cobra ransomware is tricked into a system, it will check a PC for data files and encrypt them. While encoding a record, it will attach an extension in the arrangement of .id-[id].[email].cobra. For instance, a record called test.jpg would be encoded and renamed to test.jpg.id-BCBEF350.[cranbery@colorendgrace.com].cobra.

Also, it was noticed that this ransomware will encrypt mapped network drives and unmapped system shares. So, it is necessary to ensure your system's network is secured with an end-goal that the individuals who really require access have permission.

After encrypting the files, it would leave two ransom notes. One is the info.hta file, which is launched by an autorun when a user logs into the computer. The other note by the name “Files encrypted.html” and can be found on  the desktop demanding the ransom included are the details on how to make the payment.
