Get a Faster YouTube on Browsers Other Than Chrome
Recently, Google has released a new version of YouTube. After this update, most of the users who are not using Chrome browser (and instead using Edge, Firefox or Safari browsers), complained that their YouTube is loading very slowly. This is actually not new as in most cases, Google develops its web services in such a way that they work quickly in its own browser (Chrome) only. For example, in the past, Google’s popular services such as YouTube Studio Beta, Google Earth, Google Allo, and Google Meet) were not supported on Microsoft Edge. Similarly, Google Meet, Google Earth, and YouTube TV were not supported on Firefox. In fact, at one time, Google even blocked its Google Maps service on Windows Phones.
Reason for YouTube Loading Slowly on Firefox, Edge & Safari Browsers
When YouTube loads slowly on your browser, you might think that your internet connection is slow or there is some problem with your browser. But, the reason for the slow working of YouTube on Firefox, Edge & Safari web browsers is not actually the fault of these browsers. The reason for the same is that YouTube’s new version still uses the deprecated shadow DOM API which is only implemented in Chrome. This makes other browsers load YouTube five times slower.
In fact, YouTube also encourages non Chrome users to download and install Chrome by giving various pop-up notifications. And when the user installs Chrome and visits YouTube, it loads instantly.
Fixing Slow YouTube on Firefox, Edge & Safari Browsers
Thankfully, there’s a way to fix slow YouTube on non-Chrome browsers by reverting YouTube back to the older version. Although, returning back to the classic version will mean that you can no longer experience the updated design and the dark mode feature. So, if you’re ready to lose these features, follow the procedure given below for each of the browsers.
