Why Ransomware Will be the Biggest Cyberwar Threat in 2019?

When was the last time you checked your PC health? Do you know your PC requires a regular Check Up!!!

Ransomware attacks reached a new high in 2018

Ransomware is the most widely used threats by the cyberattackers to conduct high-level cybercrimes on businesses, private organization and government bodies.

For an instance, ransomware attack took down the entire Atlanta city and hijacked the whole computer networking system that forced every private and government body to shut down.

We are sure you remember the ransomware attack on Apple’s Chipmaker Chinese company TSMC. TSMC lost its 80% of servers and networked computers due to the vicious cyber attack from WannaCry ransomware which itself is a big threat.

Even more, the ransomware attacks on healthcare organization in the USA left the hospitals unable to accept patients emergency requests. Also, caused data breach and compromised the health care data and records of medical staff and patients.

According to the reports of the National Cyber Security Centre, the attacks from ransomware saw a gradual increase this year in 2018. Not only the countries but the citizens also suffered the waft of these attacks.

Since the year 2016, ransomware attacks are increasing day by day. Earlier, the attacks were limited to big companies but most of them were unsuccessful.

However, with the evolved encryption algorithms RSA - AES, the concentrated bulk attacks by attackers are aimed at earning profits, we mean the illegal profit obtained after extorting money.

Whenever we analyze the cybercrimes, we always find that Windows is a common target for attackers throughout the world, but disturbingly the cyber attacks on Mac and Linux system is also growing.

For example, in 2018, cybercriminals targeted their interactive, premeditated attacks on local and private networks. As a result, this year saw the highest number of ransomware attacks from SamSam, Dharma, CrySis, Locker, etc on the users, especially on home computers.

On thinking laterally towards the situation, it is difficult to outlook the fact that a new class of Mining Malware has increased the number of attacks in the year 2018’s last quarter.

CoinHive, WebCobra and DarkGate are the latest miner malware that uses your computer as host and mines cryptocurrencies like Bitcoins, Monero and Zcash.

This is just like mining your raw cash in someone's house and collecting it as your black money.

The FBI and DHS issued a report that the attacks of such caliber propagate by the Trickbots where the attackers are exploiting Remote Desktop Protocol to inject such cryptojacking and cryptomining threats into the computer.

The success of all these targeted attacks will directly inspire the authors of cybercrime in 2019 to develop, target and attack more such that it would make countries fight each other in cyber warfare.

One of the sci-fi predictions that could become true if security and system defenses are not taken care of!
